The  Gaganyaan mission

India's Gaganyaan mission, is aimed at sending astronauts to space by 2025.

ISRO recently successfully completed the first test of its crew rescue system for the Gaganyaan mission.

This was ISRO's first test in a series of tests before Gaganyaan takes off into space with astronauts possibly in 2025.

During the test, an "inflight abort" procedure was conducted, where the crew module was parachuted into the Bay of Bengal.

With this successful test, India's aspirations to become a significant contender in human spaceflight have received a significant boost.
